Pre Hospital Emergency Care (PHEC)

The material covered and assessed is based on the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh (RCSEd), material from the “Foundation Material for Immediate Care” manual from the Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care.

BASICS Scotland uses formative, continuous assessment meaning no final summative exam. The assessment method has been tested and validated by Dundee University and has now been successfully used since 2016.

The course is open to doctors, nurses and paramedics who work or have an interest in working in the pre-hospital field. The PHEC course is facilitated over two and a half days with candidates taking away a logbook of targeted feedback on their knowledge skills and performance of Pre-hospital Emergency Care.
