Categories of Membership

Full Member

A) Any doctor holding full current registration with the General Medical Council under the Medical Acts of Great
Britain and Northern Ireland.

B) Any nurse actively involved in Immediate Care (as defined in the memorandum of association) registered and of good standing with the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC).

C) Any paramedic registered with the Health Professions Council who is currently certified, is of good standing and is in practice with an NHS ambulance authority.

D) Any person with an equivalent military qualification and with appropriate experience in the field of immediate care, as determined by the Board.

E) Any other individual personally involved in the provision of Immediate Care and/ or the teaching of Immediate Care who is invited to apply for membership following upon a resolution
by the directors to that effect.

Associate Member

A) Any individual who is a student attending any course leading to any of the qualifications mentioned in paragraphs
(A) to (D) above

B) Any individual being a member of a non-clinical organisation which is an incorporated body operating in a
field which involves some aspect of Immediate Care (providing it operates within Scotland or has other identifiable
Scottish links) e.g. community first responder and/or rescue schemes.

C) Any individual nominated by a non-clinical organisation which is an unincorporated body operating in a field which
involves some aspect of Immediate Care (providing it operates
within Scotland or has other identifiable Scottish links).

Retired Membership

A) Full members on reaching retirement may continue as full members subject to the restrictions of full membership. They will have voting rights and offered a 50% discount on membership fees. Alternatively, retired members may opt for associate membership which carries no voting rights.
